But will his beard?
Adam Scott and his intense beard are returning to Big Little Lies Season 2.
HBO announced that Scott will return along with the rest of the female cast and Meryl Streep for the sophomore season on Tuesday. Scott plays Ed Mackenzie, husband of Reese Witherspoon's Madeline, in the series based on Liane Moriarty's best-selling novel. Ed will be "forced to confront major challenges in his marriage" in the upcoming season. We wonder if that means he's going to find out about Madeline's affair with the local theater director or perhaps her involvement in Perry's (Alexander Skarsgard) death?
Big Little Lies Season 2 Locks Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz
Big Little Lies was originally intended to be a seven-episode limited series for the premium network, but critical and viewer acclaim pushed the creative team to go for a second round. The story for Season 2 is also from Moriarty with David E. Kelley penning the scripts. Andrea Arnold will take over as director from Jean-Marc Valee, who helmed all of the first season.
HBO, with its unique brand of vague, says Season 2 will "will explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erode ... the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom." So, like all the goodness from Season 1 then?
Big Little Lies Season 1 is now available for streaming on HBO Go and HBO Now.
