Jason Rothenberg Already Has Plans for The 100 Season 7

Bring. It. On.

The 100 may not have been included in the mass-renewal order The CW announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour Thursday, but you shouldn't count it out just yet!

CW president Mark Pedowitz told a small group of reporters that although the future of the show hasn't been decided yet, Season 7 is already on everyone's minds. "[Jason Rothenberg] does have a really good idea for his seventh season," he said of a potential renewal for The 100. "We'll see where we're at, that's a May thing."

While it's often hard to nail down why certain shows are renewed and others are canceled on broadcast television, it's at least a bit easier when it comes to The CW. It's not always the case, but the CW powers that be have a nice track record of giving shows wrap-up seasons so that creators and writers can craft a formal ending for a show rather than leaving off on a cancellation cliffhanger. Plus, in the fall, Pedowitz told reporters that he doubted Season 6 would be the last for The 100, saying, "Jason did a remarkable job of revitalizing the show, and I hope it can go on for a long time."

The 100 Finale: Can Bellamy Forgive Clarke's Betrayal?

The fact that Rothenberg is already plotting how to break our hearts in Season 7 seems to indicate that Season 6 won't necessarily wrap things up with a cute little bow. We're tentatively optimistic this new planet our heroes will find themselves on in Season 6 will provide plenty of storylines for at least one more year.

The 100 returns Tuesday, April 30 at 9/8c on The CW.
