A nicely-wrought tale of crime and redemption by Frantisek Cap, this drama focuses on a young man whose life was radically changed when his parents were killed during the war. Left on his own, he falls into the company of thieves and muggers and his judgment deteriorates as he gives up society's ethical standards and lives by stealing from others. He is inevitably caught by the police but once he is thrown into prison, he escapes. Back out on the street again and more hunted than ever, he breaks into a family home with the intention of robbing what he can. They catch him in the act but what happens next is completely unexpected, and changes him back into the person his parents would have wanted him to be. This film was an entry at the 1959 Pula Film Festival.
