Alma lives alone in a large house in the center of Bordeaux. Her husband, a renowned surgeon, is serving a prison sentence. Since then, her daily life has been marked by loneliness and waiting. Mina, on the other hand, comes from a suburb of Narbonne; she takes care of her two young children and gets by doing odd jobs. Her husband is also in prison, convicted of a robbery. When the two women meet during a visit to the same prison, an unexpected connection forms between them. On the spur of the moment, Alma invites the exhausted Mina to her home. The chance encounter soon turns into something more: Mina moves in with Alma and her children temporarily, finds a job through her, and is able to be closer to her incarcerated husband. But the new bond between the two very different women remains fragile. For despite their emotional closeness, they are divided by their backgrounds, lifestyles, and financial circumstances. While Alma tries to fill her empty life with care and generosity, Mina struggles to maintain control over her life amid mounting pressure. The men, too, weigh on the women's relationship, even from a distance.
