In the mid-'80s, filmmaker Kon Pet Moon was working at a camera store in San Francisco where several thousand sets of photographs, brought in for processing and printing, had gone unclaimed over the years. Moon sometimes looked through the unclaimed sets, and two began to fascinate him -- a series of unusual images of women (most rephotographed from ads in magazines and others sources) and a set of duplicated Polaroid snapshots that displayed a rough but interesting visual style and aesthetic perspective. When the store went under, Moon paid the tab for the two sets of photos and took them home; years later, he set out to find the photographers in questions -- Albert Easterwood and Margaret Raymond -- and learn who they were and what they were trying to express in their photos. Years of research uncovered stories of two people whose lives were truly remarkable, full of drama, mystery, and genuine tragedy. Two Unknown Photographers documents Moon's years of research and the true stories of these unknown artists.
