It's Thanksgiving. Ally, who has just married Mark, whose two children, Hannah and Isabel, are living with them, is preparing a traditional Thanksgiving meal, complete with a roast turkey despite Mark's biological family stating they are vegetarian. Ally has made what she considers a compromise in making Mark's ex-wife Melanie's Thanksgiving protein alternative, a nut loaf. It is especially important to have that nut loaf as they have invited Melanie for dinner. The pressures of the occasion and not adhering strictly to Mark and Melanie's family traditions leads to an interesting Thanksgiving for Ally.
