The Third Part of the World

Love draws a woman into unknown dimensions in this drama from France. Emma (Clemence Poesy) is a real estate salesperson who is visiting an airport when she meets Francois (Gaspard Ulliel), a scientist doing research on black holes and similar interstellar phenomena. Emma is immediately attracted to Francois and he feels the same way about her; they impulsively head out to the country for a romantic weekend, and all is fine until Francois vanishes while taking a bike ride. Emma has no idea what's become of Francois and reports him missing before she returns to Paris, where she's helping a Japanese student of the paranormal (Momoko Fructus) find an apartment. Francois's brother Michel (Eric Ruf) believes Emma is up to no good when he arrives in Paris to speak with her about Francois's disappearance, but just like his brother he's drawn to her beauty, even though he's already married. Emma and Michel soon fall into an affair, but it's not long before he also vanishes. This time, Emma sees what happens to Michel, and she suspects it might have something to do with the closet that that previous tenants sealed shut before they moved away.
