Josie Sedgwick was one of a very, very small number of women who successfully played cowgirls in Westerns, as opposed to being just "the girl." Sedgwick performed in both shorts and features, and she's the whole show in this two-reel comedy-drama as she ropes and rides with the best of 'em. Jerry Ramsdell (Sedgwick) is the daughter of the sheriff. Cattle rustlers are troubling her part of the West, and she sets out to stop them by keeping an eye on Eugene Slade (Edward Cecil), who she believes is one of them. When she spies him giving the "all clear" signal to the gang, she ropes him as he tries to get away. Later, however, the gang captures her and takes her to their hideout. She manages to overpower her captors and signal to her father, who arrives with his posse. The rustlers are successfully rounded up. Yes, there is a hero -- Bob Wallace (Colin Chase) -- but he seems to have as little to do here as the heroines of other, more male-dominated Westerns.
