The One
Based around an annual event in Enid, Oklahoma, "The One" is an inspirational faith film about Hawk, a Native American foster teen who ages out of the system and uses his one train ticket out of Chicago to see the tallest Christmas tree in the United States. While waiting for the lighting of the tree, he crosses paths with runaway Alexis, a High School sophomore who is coping with the loss of her twin sister. Hawk struggles with his own anxiety and nightmares, but uses music and his guitar to help his PTSD symptoms. Together the two reminisce about Hawk's foster life, discuss the existence God, and dodge her mom Lisa, the President of Enid's Winter Wonderland committee and opening night festivities. The film is strewn with surprise comedic characters and twists and turns that will not only open eyes to the plight of our foster system, but also remind us that it is never too late to find The One...whatever that may mean for you.
