There is nothing original about this drama -- it's the old tale of the small-town girl who heads for the bright lights of the city and finds it all an illusion. A good cast, however, does what it can with the material. Irene Martin (Florence Vidor) is the young lady who leaves her tiny hamlet to pursue a stage career in New York City. She gets a job performing on the rooftop of the Knickerbocker. Wealthy businessman Henry Galt (Clive Brook) is very much impressed with her and contracts her to perform for his out-of-town buyers (of course, he falls in love with her along the way). Then Irene's mother (Myrtle Vane), sister (Charlotte Stevens), and fiancé, Al Manning (Alan Roscoe), show up in New York. Manning finds Irene at a party that Galt is throwing and misunderstands the situation. Thinking that she is a loose woman, he breaks up with her -- which is fine because it paves the way for a marriage proposal from Galt.
