An adaptation of a 1967 science-fiction novel by Yasutaka Tsutsui. Kazuko Yoshiyama is a seemingly ordinary schoolgirl who daydreams about gaining an alien boyfriend from the distant stars. Following her return from the spring break, she and her two male friends are tasked to clean various classrooms. They are instructed to keep the school laboratory locked, because someone has been making unauthorized use of its chemicals in recent months. Yoshiyama decides to enter the laboratory on her own, in order to clean it. She inhales white smoke from a broken beaker and falls unconscious. After she recovers, her friends walk her home. One of them (Fukamachi) rescues her when a bike nearly runs her over. Yoshiyama is perplexed when she experiences multiple variations of the same day (time loops). She also has contradictory memories of Fukamachi. She remembers that her old friend Fukamachi died when she was a little girl, but she also remembers interacting with a teenage Fukamachi in the present. She learns that the present Fukamachi is a time-traveler from the 27th century, who has tampered with her memory. He loves her, but he has to erase her memories about him. Several yeas later, an adult Yoshiyama works at a research center. She and the time-traveler have a chance meeting, but they fail to recognize each other and they go on their respective ways.
