Sid Chambers (House Peters) is an ex-convict who tries to go straight in this crime drama. After his prison term, he marries schoolteacher Laura Chadwick (Irene Rich) and attempts to settle down to start a new life. Detective Mark Shadwell (De Witt Jennings) is the cop who sent him to jail and asks Sid about his former gang upon his release. When he refuses to give out any information, the detective again manages to send him to jail. Sadly, Laura gives birth to a baby during Sid's absence, and she gives the child up for adoption fearing it will become a criminal. Sid gets out of jail and goes gunning for Shadwell. When Laura arrives to prevent the killing, she discovers the detective and his wife are the ones who now care for her baby. The detective's sense of decency prompts him to reunite the trio as a family once again.
