Who better than Mary Pickford to play the title role in Paramount's The Foundling. Abandoned in infancy, Molly O (Pickford) is raised in a stern orphanage, then farmed out as a servant girl in a dingy boarding house. Resigned to her lot in life, Molly O is surprised indeed when it turns out that she's the long-lost daughter of a millionaire. Her newfound wealth enables her to marry her longtime sweetheart David King (Edward Martindel), and to gently put her tormentors in their proper place. Mary Pickford was living proof that an actress did not need a fancy wardrobe and garish makeup to exude sheer star power.
