Directed by Richard Thorpe, this low-budget silent Western starred Buffalo Bill, Jr. (later known as Jay Wilsey) as Billy Burton, an Eastern wastrel, who -- after a nightclub brawl -- is shipped West to become a man. Obtaining a job on a ranch, Billy saves lovely Francie (Dorothy Woods) from an unwanted suitor and the ranch itself from a gang of rustlers. Variations of this story had been filmed many times before (and since), but Lester F. Scott, Jr.'s streamlined production and Thorpe's spirited direction made A Streak of Luck more than palatable.
