Kristen Stewart gives an understated yet intensely moving performance as Melinda Sordino, a once-popular girl who begins her freshman year of high school with a dual burden: she's being ostracized by her peers and keeping silent about being date raped. The strong supporting cast includes Elizabeth Perkins and D.B. Sweeney as Melinda's loving but emotionally distant parents, and Steve Zahn as an art teacher Melinda really connects with.
