Jodie Foster's Flightplan took off at the box office, debuting at No. 1 with $24.6 million. The thriller edged out Tim Burton's Corpse Bride, which grabbed the No. 2 spot with $20.1 million. The weekend's other wide release, the roller-skating romp Roll Bounce, opened at No. 4 with $8 million. Overall, the box office was up 51 percent from the same weekend last year.
