Jack Hoxie's fourth Western for Universal, The Red Warning featured the former rodeo champ as Phillip Haver, who with his sidekick Toby Jones (Frank Rice) saves a rancher (William Welsh) from losing the farm to an usurper. The latter was played by Fred Kohler, one of the best villains in B-Western history. Former Mack Sennett "Bathing Beauty" Elinor Field played the rancher's lovely daughter and Hoxie's half-brother Al performed several thrilling stunts. The red Warning was directed by Robert North Bradbury, the father of future B-Western star Bob Steele.
