Queen of the Nile
In ancient Thebes, Egypt in around the 14th Century BC, a young sculptor named Tumos (Edmund Purdom) is having an affair with ward-of-the-temple, Tanet (Jeanne Crain). As they attempt to elope, they are ambushed. Tumos escapes while Tanet is reprimanded by her father Benakon (Vincent Price), a high priest of the temple. Tumos enlists the help of his old friend, Prince Amenophis (Amedio Nazzari) to help him marry Tanet. Unfortunately, only the Pharaoh can grant permission. Worse, the Prince is waging a battle against the worshipers of the god Anton and is torn between allegiance to his god Amon Ra and this new one. He is, in fact, slowly going insane. But when his father dies and he becomes Pharaoh, Amenophis pardons Tumos and grants him permission to marry. Meanwhile, Benakon has given Tanet the name Nefertiti, and told her it is the gods' will that she marries Amenophis. Capturing Tumos, Benakon blackmails Nefertiti into becoming Queen of the Nile. However, Tumos' favorite model Merit (Liana Forfeit) frees him. At the wedding of Nefertiti and the Pharaoh, Benekon announces that Tumos is dead. They're all astonished later when they realize that not only is Tumos alive, but has been commissioned to do a statue of the new queen. Naturally, they fall in love again. But since Amenophis has completely embraced the new religion, Benekon turns the people against him and they stage a violent massacre against the palace. Nefertiti can't leave her insane husband so she takes control as ruler and pleads with Tumos to get help from their supporters in the desert.
