Set in a tiny Texas town located in the title county, this grim and convoluted drama follows the exploits of the ambitious, avaricious and adulterous Duane and his brother Perkins. Duane has just been elected the county sheriff; he is having an affair with Perkin's manipulative wife Liz while her husband is out on the road. Perkins has been gone a long time. When he finally returns, he is deeply upset to discover that the family ranch has been turned into an emu farm. Adding insult to injury is the fact that his recently deceased mother only bequeathed him a partial gun collection.
