Montreal, January 2010, Mia Lagroue, a well known Quebec actress, after finishing a conference on the impacts of cultural diversity in Quebec, is advised of her mother's murder in her native Haiti, and is devastated by the news. A few hours later Mia is aboard a flight to attend her mother's funeral. The claims to her family's estate will put her life in danger. The court proceedings lead to a fight with the authorities and a violent confrontation with her sister Anna who is conniving with illegitimate heirs against Mia. Accused of drug trafficking and imprisoned, she suffers the worst kind of abuse at the hands of their henchmen. Released, she destroys the industrial infrastructure taken by her enemies, who decide to send killers after her. Mia is now trying to leave the country by any means with the help of her adopted sister Yolande.
