It's the Christmas season. Peter and Alex, a teacher and an astrophysicist, respectively, have been dating for a year and are currently living together with Alex's six year old son Max, who is in Peter's class. They proverbially live in two different worlds, Alex grounded in reality in being taught such from a young age by her father, Steven, and Peter having a playful quality in not pretending to be anybody but himself. Although they had not talked marriage beforehand, Peter pops the question, and after a short but thorough consideration about the consequences good and bad, Alex says yes. While Alex's parents, but more so Steven, are less than thrilled with the thought of Peter as their son-in-law in Steven having viewed Alex's research partner Edward as her perfect match, Alex knows virtually nothing about Peter's parents beyond that they run a toy factory up north, and has yet to meet them. The reason for Peter's evasiveness about his parents?: it's because they are Santa and Mrs. Claus. And despite it being the Christmas season, Peter's parents decide to fly in immediately on their sleigh to meet Alex and Max, who has long been told by Grandpa Steven that Santa does not exist. Beyond Peter finding the right time to tell Alex the truth about his heritage and thus their destiny, the situation gets more complicated as the hidden sleigh breaks down upon arrival. Peter's parents' longer than anticipated stay leaves them time to meet Alex's parents, Steven who cannot stop but discover the backgrounds of the family into which Alex is marrying, he already suspicious that they are hiding something major based on what he considers their odd behavior.
