A pair of British Grande Dames, Maggie Smith and Judi Dench, give grand performances in this understated and moving portrait of two elderly sisters caring for a shipwrecked Polish musician (Daniel Bruhl) whom they find on the beach in 1936 Cornwall. This is the accomplished directorial debut of British actor Charles Dance, who also wrote the script, which is based on a short story by William J. Locke.
