Toni Collette and Cameron Diaz shine as a pair of mismatched sisters in this touching character study. Collette is the sensible, driven one, and Diaz is an irresponsible, self-centered party girl who may have stepped on her sibling's toes once too often. Shirley MacLaine is excellent as their grandmother, a Florida retiree whom the women thought was dead. Directed by Curtis Hanson. Mark Feuerstein, Ken Howard, Candice Azzara, Norman Lloyd, Francine Beers.
