Cowboy star Bob Custer's listless dialogue delivery was kept to a minimum in the 1931 cheapie Headin' for Trouble. This time, Custer comes to the rescue of heroine Betty Mack and pint-sized Andy Shuford. As long as he's kept busy with the bad guys, our hero is unable to pitch woo to the lovely Mack, which is a blessing considering the lines he has to speak. Breaking up the action from time to time is a country-western quartet, singing a collection of forgettable frontier ditties. According to Variety, the New York audience attending the first metropolitan showing of Headin' for Trouble greeted some of its more dramatic moments with a chorus of Bronx cheers.
