After a robbery outside his apartment, a man named Sergio (Remo Girone) finds a suitcase full of three billion lire in stolen money. Hiding the money, Sergio and his friend Paolo (Paolo Malco) drive to the vacation home of Sergio's sister Roberta (Victoria Zinny). After they are pulled over and robbed at gunpoint, Paolo talks Sergio into not reporting it, and although the next 40 minutes are filled with pointless dialogue intended to establish that Paolo is one of the criminals, the point has already been made. Finally, Sergio returns home, where he is hounded by Police Colonel Catalini (Marcel Bozzuffi), who arrests Paolo for murdering Sergio's blackmailing neighbor. After a search of Sergio's home fails to uncover the money, Catalini asks him where he keeps his wife's jewelry. Sergio opens a book with a hollow center, setting off a toy monkey with cymbals, which clang together as the credits roll. What it all means is anyone's guess, but this weak attempt at duplicating the success of the superior Shallow Grave fails on almost every count, and cheats the viewer in the bargain.
