Shaman Hwa-rim and her protégé Bong-gil diagnose a wealthy family's infant with a supernatural affliction tied to a neglected ancestral burial. Hwa-rim hires Kim Sang-deok and mortician Yeong-geun to excavate the mountainside grave despite Sang-deok detecting a severe, unnatural wrongness radiating from the site. A careless caretaker breaches the coffin, unleashing a vengeful spirit that slaughters the descendants before the crew halts the massacre. Months later, evidence of a second, deeper burial surfaces, dragging the specialists back to the mountain to confront a dormant, towering samurai tethered to an occupied nation's buried spiritual weaponry.
