Earth vs. the Flying Saucers Reviews

A great sci-fi alien invasion film with outstanding special effects by Ray Harryhausen. Flying saucers arrive on Earth at an Army base, and, though they mean no harm, are greeted with gunfire. This sets the aliens off and they declare war, killing the soldiers and starting a large-scale invasion involving dozens of saucers. The aliens are winning the war until one is killed and the corpse is brought to scientist Marlowe for a postmortem examination. Marlowe discovers that the aliens are highly sensitive to certain sound frequencies. The earthlings then aim these frequencies at the saucers, causing them to crash into many Washington, DC monuments. Among the landmarks spectacularly destroyed on screen via Harryhausen's magic are the Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Washington Monument. One of Harryhausen's most underrated efforts, this is worth seeing.
