An anonymous caller has Karl Brendt driving through Berlin with his two children in the back seat. No one is allowed to get out, or else a bomb will go off. From inside the car, Karl is under pressure to come up with a large sum of money in record time. While he tries to scrounge up money from colleagues on his cell phone, he is pursued by the police on charges of child abduction. Brendt desperately tries to save his children and himself. When Karl plans to meet with his colleague Omar (Fahri Yardim) - who is also a victim of extortion - and Omar's wife (Mavie Hörbiger), he is forced to watch as their car is blown up. His son Marius (Carlo Thoma), sitting in the back seat, is injured in the blast. But Brendt isn't allowed to take the bleeding boy to the hospital or let him out of the car until he's raised the money. The police, who have since been called in by his wife, are of no help either. Inspector Drache (Aleksandar Jovanovic) believes Brendt is suffering from his separation from his wife Simone (Christiane Paul) and wants to end the supposed rampage with snipers. But bomb expert Pia Zach (Hannah Herzsprung) steps in - she gets close to Brendt and believes him. Despite the chaos and time pressure, she tries to stay calm and track down the blackmailer.
