Fifteen years ago, they met in a French class and have been friends ever since: the successful lawyer Caroline (Ulrike Kriener), the seemingly fragile Judith (Inka Friedrich), the stressed-out housewife Eva (Saskia Vester), and the extravagant Estelle (Nina Hoger), co-owner of a thriving chain of pharmacies. Traditionally, the women not only spend every Tuesday evening together, but also take a carefree weekend trip once a year. This time, however, everything is different: the recently widowed Judith wants to complete her late husband Arne's pilgrimage to Lourdes in his memory. Neither Caroline, Eva, nor Estelle are thrilled at the prospect of hiking for days on end over rough terrain, but as good friends, they naturally join the grieving Judith. What begins as a varied hike through the Pyrenees soon turns into a grueling ordeal. Their differing temperaments increasingly lead to arguments and mutual teasing.
