Washed ashore after the shipwreck that took the life of her mother, little Nan is rescued by salty fisherman Barnacle Joe (Harry Lee), who raises her as her own daughter. Upon reaching maturity, Nan (now played by Louise Huff) heads to the Big City, where she falls in with a gang of crooks. During a burglary, Nan is left behind to take the fall for her crooked cohorts. Her plight is brought to the attention of the Reverend Robert Carter (John Bowers), the adopted son of the owner of the burgled house. The reverend falls in love with Nan, little realizing that she is actually the daughter of his own stepfather! In her first starring role, Louise Huff was appropriately gaminlike, though in the long run she posed no threat to such veteran ingenues as Mary Pickford and Marguerite Clark.
