Carlos is an aging film director shooting a movie set in rural Spain during the 1930s and based on an old family story. The rushes of the footage he has already shot alternate with scenes from his monotonous daily life, as he grapples with drinking a lot and the relationship with his daughter, a modern and friendly radio announcer.
