In the 21st century, a former underwater scientific installation has been re-purposed as a city, named Pacifica by the colonists who live in it. Now the U. S. government has plans to store the Fort Knox gold reserves there along with a fantastic new radioactive element. But someone has plans to steal the gold and, to make matters even worse;, the city is facing imminent destruction by an asteroid that is heading right toward it.
