Barbara Castleton stars with Lewis Stone in this romantic drama. A former Red Cross nurse from World War I agrees to marry her sweetheart, but she nearly runs out on the eve of the ceremony when she is led to believe by her mother that the child she had conceived out of wedlock had died. Unbeknown to the nurse, her child had been placed with a poor family living in a tenement. When the child shows up before the wedding, the irate groom intends on killing the man who fathered the child. Mistaking his intended's friend to be the father, he shoots the man who fortunately only suffers a slight wound. The former nurse then tearfully recalls how she was taken advantage of by a drunken German during the war. The couple reconcile their differences in the wake of the explanation and make plans to reunite mother and child in this often confusing tearjerker.
