During the Edwardian era, Albert Potter reports the disappearance of Doris Mann after a monster abducts her in Hocombe Woods. Detective Sergeant Sidney Bung connects the case to several missing women and follows physical evidence toward the sinister Bide-A-Wee Rest Home. There, Dr Orlando Watt and Valeria conceal experiments involving electricity, reanimated bodies, and a trade in altered mannequins. As Bung, Albert, and Detective Constable Slobotham close in, monsters, potions, disguises, and marital suspicion turn the investigation into a frantic struggle to recover Doris and expose the house's secret.
