In this silent high-seas drama, a first mate must take over a ship when its captain suddenly dies. He gets the boat safely to port, but as soon as the ship is docked, the owner hires someone else to helm the vessel. A major fight ensues between the deposed matey and the new captain, and the mate decides he'll take the ship to Frisco alone. The boat owner is enraged. Adding fuel to his fire is the fact that his daughter is in love with the mutinous first mate and has elected to sail along with him. Unfortunately, a sudden squall forces the boat upon the rocks and were it not for the intervention of the hero they would have surely drowned.
