Director James Toback unspools a provocative mosaic about modern-day American culture. Among the players: privileged white youths drawn to the hip-hop culture; a shady gambler (Ben Stiller) with a secret; a troubled basketball star (Allan Houston); rap artists trying to cut a record; and a documentarian (Brooke Shields) and her flamboyant husband (Robert Downey Jr.) capturing it all on video.
