Beyond the Pale

In 1989, two Irishmen, Patrick Shaw and Seamus O'Sullivan, arrive in New York, brimming with youthful energy and the kind of fearlessness that comes with being new to the world-and with nothing to lose. Illegal immigrants with no papers, no rights, and no safety net, they dive into the city's chaos headfirst, believing that fate and fortune are waiting to be seized. Patrick, seeking something real and unfiltered, finds work as a janitor, keeping his head down and his heart open. But New York, a city of layers, reveals just enough to keep him hooked, and before long, he finds himself tangled in more than he bargained for. Seamus, hungry for a better life, chases quick wins and dangerous risks, convinced that luck will come through if he pushes hard enough. His ambition, mixed with naïve boldness, keeps him one step ahead-but the city's darker corners always seem to pull him back in. Patrick's world shifts when he meets Helen, a struggling actress stuck in a toxic breakup with Jeffrey, a possessive man who can't let her go. Their connection is immediate, but it's the wrong time-Patrick's life is already in turmoil, and their chemistry only adds to the chaos. As an illegal immigrant, he knows he's walking a fine line, and this unexpected bond makes everything more complicated. Meanwhile, Seamus sinks deeper into the city's underworld, gambling and scheming his way through the dangers of a life without papers. Tom Finnegan, a washed-up author with a tragic past, spirals further into despair. And Jeffrey, desperate to reclaim Helen, makes a violent play to win her back. As their fates collide in the unforgiving city, the stakes couldn't be higher. In a place where the law is always a shadow and survival is a daily gamble, Patrick and Seamus must navigate not just the dangers of their illegal status, but the consequences of their own choices. In a city that doesn't care who you are.

The Passion of the Christ

2 hr 7 mins
A depiction of the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth, on the day of his crucifixion in Jerusalem. The story opens in the Garden of Olives where Jesus has gone to pray after the Last Supper. Betrayed by Judas Iscariot, the controversial Jesus - who has performed 'miracles' and has publicly announced that he is 'the Son of God' - is arrested and taken back within the city walls of Jerusalem. There, the leaders of the Pharisees confront him with accusations of blasphemy; subsequently, his trial results with the leaders condemning him to his death. Jesus is brought before Pontius Pilate, the prefect of the Roman province of Judaea, for his sentencing. Pilate listens to the accusations leveled at Jesus by the Pharisees. Realizing that his own decision will cause him to become embroiled in a political conflict, Pilate defers to King Herod in deciding the matter of how to persecute Jesus. However, Herod returns Jesus to Pilate who, in turn, gives the crowd a choice between which prisoner they would rather to see set free - Jesus, or Barabbas. The crowd chooses to have Barabbas set free. Thus, Jesus is handed over to the Roman soldiers and is brutally flagellated. Bloody and unrecognizable, he is brought back before Pilate who, once again, presents him to the thirsty crowd - assuming they will see that Jesus has been punished enough. The crowd, however, is not satisfied. Thus, Pilate washes his hands of the entire dilemma, ordering his men to do as the crowd wishes. Whipped and weakened, Jesus is presented with the cross and is ordered to carry it through the streets of Jerusalem, all the way up to Golgotha. There, more corporal cruelty takes place as Jesus is nailed to the cross-suffering, he hangs there, left to die. Initially, in his dazed suffering, Jesus is alarmed that he has been abandoned by God his father. He then beseeches God. At the moment of his death, nature itself over-turns.
