In this odd black comedy (featuring a screenplay by Roman Polanski), a fellow finds a corpse in a restaurant and decides to don the dead man's hat. This results in his being mistaken for the deceased by an enigmatic woman who begins trying to kill him. Later she is killed. At least it appears to be her. It could be her twin sister, but it is hard to tell. Later the hapless hat-wearer finds himself embroiled with rival bands of cannibals who are preparing to eat the woman. More mayhem ensues when opium smugglers get involved. Fortunately the fellow manages to stop all the fighting and fall in love with the remaining twin.
