This domestic comedy-drama isn't as amusing as it could have been. Broker John Manners (Jack Dean) spends more time at the horse races than he does at the office. His budget-conscious wife, Betty (Fannie Ward), has a plain, sensible wardrobe, so John avoids taking her out as much as possible. He finds the stylish Mrs. Airlie far more attractive. This doesn't get by Betty, who decides that perhaps she needs to buy some nicer clothes. Just then she finds out that she has been left not only a huge sum of money but also a title -- she is now Lady Betty. At the same time, the stock market takes a bad turn and her husband is broke. Unaware of Betty's good fortune, he leaves town to sell their last asset -- an estate in the West. Betty finds out and takes a private car to California. Accompanying her is Sir Henry, and John becomes insanely jealous when he sees him courting his now-well dressed wife. The two men fight and John thinks he has killed Sir Henry. He comes home and Betty offers to hide him. The police and Sir Henry show up at about the same time and John realizes how foolishly he has been behaving. Betty forgives him and the couple give their marriage a fresh start.
