• As a youth appeared in theater productions with Chloë Sevigny, who also at times babysat him and his sister
• Didn't like being called Chris so he dropped Chris from his first name and went by Topher
• Wanted to be a pro tennis player but an ankle injury turned his attention to acting
• Was discovered while performing in a high-school production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum by producers Bonnie and Terry Turner, whose daughter was also in the cast
• Big break came in 1998 when the Turners created That '70s Show and cast him in the lead role of Eric Forman
• Has appeared in three movies directed by Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve)
• National Board of Review honored him in 2004 with their Best Breakthrough Performance by Actor award for In Good Company and P
