• Produced humorous radio commercials and appeared in California comedy clubs during his teens
• Was a writer for In Living Color and shared an office with Jim Carrey; they collaborated on the films Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994), Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995) and Bruce Almighty (2003)
• Through his company O Entertainment, created "Thumbmation" technology and a series of Thumb comedic shorts that spoof popular movies, using thumbs in costumes with computer-generated faces
• Was a creative force behind the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius movie and TV series
• Wrote the first of the many screenplays that eventually became Cowboys & Aliens (2011)
