• Cast by Tim Robbins in 2004 for his off-Broadway play Embedded, which went on to do a national tour and dates in London, England
• Attended band camp at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania at the same time as future comedy partner Kate Micucci; the two were re-introduced several years later in Los Angeles at the Uprights Citizen Brigade Theater by comedian Doug Benson
• In 2006, co-directed Life is Short with Dori Oskowitz, which starred Samm Levine, Seth MacFarlane, and Alexis Bledel
• Half of the comedy/music group, Garfunkel & Oates, whose names were inspired from musicians Art Garfunkel and John Oates
• In 2008, the group was the opening act for John Oates and performed the song "Maneater" with him on stage
