• Was interested in extracurricular activities during his school days; his first sculpture was a large fist emerging from a stone, which he created in eighth standard
• Filed an affidavit in the district court to change his name to Piyush Mishra in junior college
• Started working with theatre at Kala Mandir and Rangshri Little Ballet Troupe in Gwalior
• First played a significant role of Hakloo, a character who stammered, in a Kala Mandir production called Dilli Teri Baat Niraali
• Slashed his wrists with a blade in protest to being pressurised to study and quit theatre by his family, during second year of college
• Was the foremost contender for the lead role in Sooraj Barjatya's directorial debut Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), but he decided not to go to Mumbai
• Received the Best Actor Award at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival for his role in the The Playback Singer (2013)
