After 17 Years, Montel Williams Signs Off
After 17 years of daytime talking, Montel Williams' stint is done, according to CBS Distribution. There will be no more new episodes of his syndicated talk show after this season, but CBS will give stations still hungry for him a Best of Montel package for 2008-2009.While CBS had already decided not to renew the show next season, some stations had already signed deals. Instead of new eps, they'll get the "best of" package, which was cleared in a cash deal, saving them money and the need to fill Montel time slots. Williams kicked off his talk career in New York in 1991. The Montel Williams Show got scooped up by Viacom the following year and the rest, as they say, is talk show history. — Anna Dimond
