  • Won Silver in the 5000m at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne
  • Won Gold in the 10,000m at the 2014 European Championships in Zurich, ten months after giving birth to her second child
  • In doing so, she became the oldest female European champion, at the age of 40 years and 325 days
  • Was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in 2015 for services to Athletics
  • Was selected to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro - making her the first British runner and track athlete to appear at five Olympic Games
