Derek Roberts Biography

Fast Facts

• Moved to Delaware with his family when he was 12
• Was raised by his grandmother, mother and aunt
• Joined a singing group when he was 15
• Attended college in Maryland for a year, but returned to Delaware to pursue a music career
• Worked as a mortgage broker in Florida for around 3 to 4 years before the housing market burst in 2008
• Started acting in Florida, after a friend suggested he audition for a play, which he got the lead role
• His first role on-screen, in Army Wives, was also his first audition
• Works with an insurance company, doing arbitration, in between acting jobs
