  • Worked as a security guard and sold ties at Bloomingdale's while trying to make it in New York as an actor
  • Was stage legend Uta Hagen's last leading man
  • They costarred in a 2001 Los Angeles production of the two-character comedy Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks; Hagen insisted on waiting for Pierce to finish his season of Frasier so that they could appear together on Broadway, but while waiting she had a stroke (and later died)
  • In 2005, made his Broadway musical debut in Monty Python's Spamalot
  • Is a national board member of the Alzheimer's Association; lost his father and grandfather to the disease
