• Was taken to Germany during 1943 at the crux of World War 2 because his father wanted him to stay with his grandma and aunt
• Completed his schooling in Germany along with learning theatre
• Had met his first wife Helga at a play and they had two daughters, Monique and Nicole, and a son
• Handed over his three children to an American couple after his wife Helga died in a car accident
• Moved to Vietnam on an army assignment where he had to destroy buried mines
• Was inspired by an article about Bollywood star Parveen Babi in Time Magazine, which led him to Bombay for a Bollywood career
• Made his Bollywood acting debut in Abdullah (1980) directed by Sanjay Khan
• Has acted in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films apart from mainstream Hindi films
• Relocated from Mumbai to Bangalore in early 2000s after his acting stint in Bollywood
• Became a yoga instructor after quitting Bollywood
• Worked as the Director of a health and fitness centre at The Golden Palms Hotel & Spa on the outskirts of Bangalore till 2006
• Underwent treatment at Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology in Bangalore before passing away due to a cardiac rupture on 20 March 2011
• Had his autobiography 'Flashback: My Life and Times in Bollywood and Beyond' released after his demise
