• Big TV break came when she was cast as Jean Weir, the lovable mom on Freaks and Geeks in 1999
• In 2012 was cast as Lena Dunham's mother on Girls and appeared as Katharine McPhee's mom on Smash, along with her real-life husband Dylan Baker who played McPhee's dad
• Is a founding member of New York-based theater company The Drama Dept
