• Is a solo singer-songwriter (who often writes/co-writes her records) of British and Jamaican origin
• Was made creative director of LA Fitness as well as launching a jewellery line (both in 2009), continuing to sign deals with various brands including Ford, Thomson Airways and Toblerone, establishing herself as a prolific businesswoman
• Met Sabrina Washington at dance school in 1999 and, together with Su-Elise Nash and Zena McNally, created popular UK garage group Mis-Teeq
• Has been part of the judging panel for Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 (for which she was also a contender in 2007) and Britain's Got Talent in 2012
• Is hugely involved in charity work, being an official ambassador for Help a London Child and a patron of the African-Caribbean Leukaemia Trust, as well as taking part in a Mount Kilimanjaro climb (with other celebrities) for Comic Relief, in 2009
• Has been significantly involved in domestic abuse issues, including the 2010 BBC documentary Don't Hit My Mum, launching Avon's Pass It On campaign in 2012, and leading a walk (to raise awareness) down Westminster Bridge to the Houses of Parliament, in 2013
• Is a vegetarian and involved with many animal rights organisations, including the PetRetreat scheme launched by RSPCA, as well as being the Vice-President of the League Against Cruel Sports
